The annual 'Modena Terra di
Motori' celebrations reached a climax in Modena last weekend.
The
Piazza Grande, right in the heart of the City of Modena, was the
main stage of a supercar exhibition, while the historical Via Farini hosted a
special display of five Maseratis, a mixture of old and new.
Several exhibits spread across the pedestrian-only city
centre welcomed more rarities stamped with the Trident’s
badge, including two vintage Maserati motorbikes. One of
them, a late 1950’s model, was on loan from the private
collection of Mario Righini, while well-known Maserati
enthusiast, Matteo Panini, provided the stunning mid-engine Tipo 63
Birdcage from his museum in Baggiovara.
The Maseratis on display in Via Farini also included a nice
contrast between the first series Quattroporte, which was designed by
Frua in 1963, and the latest generation, styled by Pininfarina.

The two Quattroporte saloons were joined
by a Coupé GranSport, a 1960 3500GT Vignale Spyder, and a
current edition Spyder. The five significant cars made an impressive sight,
set in a row against the
historic arches of the paved city street.
Maserati’s close association to the myth of five times Formula
One World
Champion Juan Manuel Fangio, was also recorded in the form of
a Coupé model in 'Vintage' specification which was part of a separate
automotive display announcing an
exhibition focusing on the legendary Argentinean driver, to be held
in Modena during October.
