GPC Sport have a
strong three-car line-up in place for the final two
back-to-back rounds of the 2005 FIA GT Championship season
which take place in the Gulf States, at Dubai (on 18th
November) and Bahrain (on 25th November). Their nr 2 Ferrari
575 GTC Evo 2005 will be in the hands of Andrea Piccini and
Jean-Denis Deletraz as usual; while the nr 3 Ferrari 575 GTC
Evo 2005 will be shared by Marco Cioci and former F1 driver
Andrea Montermini, who most recently drove the Rock Media
Motors Ferrari 575 GTC in the Brno round which took place in
late June.
The 5.39km track
at the Dubai Autodrome is one of the most modern in the
world; it is also one of the most challenging, as it has a
combination of high-speed straights and technical corners.
The circuit, which contains six different configurations, is
designed to allow three circuits to operate simultaneously,
safely and independently from each other. The result
presents circuit users with unparalleled options. It was
designed to meet the strictest safety requirements and is
the first FIA-sanctioned circuit to incorporate wide asphalt
run-off areas. The FIA GT Championship visited the Dubai
track for the first time last October when it hosted the
2004 series' penultimate race. Then, GPC Sport entered two
Ferrari 575 GTCs for Morbidelli and Fabio Babini, and for
Phillipp Peter and Emanuele Naspetti, the former pair
finishing in sixth place, the latter eventually coming home
seven laps down.

This year the Ferrari 575 GTC (in 'Evo 2005' guise) has
struggled to compete with the all-conquering Maserati MC12s
as well as the Corvette C5-R which has shown a turn of pace
in the most recent rounds. However development on the
N.Technology built racer has carried on, most notably with
the mid-season introduction of revised a aerodynamic
package, a new engine 'step' and new tyres, the highlight
has been undoubtedly pole position in Istanbul, which was
followed up by a strong fourth place finish. GPC Sport will
also enter its Ferrari 360 GTC in the GT2 category in Dubai
and Bahrain, to be driven by veteran Luca Drudi and Gabrio
Rosa.
Furthermore, the team has announced that it will be
receiving the first customer Ferrari 430 racer, which will
participate in the 2006 FIA GT Championship. "We wanted to
be the first team to receive the new car, that I am sure
will be a real protagonist," Gian Paolo Coppi stated.
Developed in conjunction with Michelotti, the track-bound
Ferrari F430 will replace the existing 360 GTC in the GT2
category.
