Care Racing supported Ferrari 550 Maranellos filled the first four places in the GT1 category at Monza for round two of the LMES, after today's 20-minute qualifying session.

Fabrizio Gollin of BMS Scuderia Italia, running with Pirelli tyres, set the fastest time of the ten GT1 runners. In a close and exciting qualifying battle between the Ferrari 550s, his best time of 1:46.175 was four tenths of a second faster than that of Christophe Bouchut in the Michelin shod Convers Team/Cirtek car.

Tomas Enge, driving the Czech MenX team car and usually a 'pole' specialist, was disappointed to be the third quickest in the session, a feeling echoed by Christian Pescatori in the second BMS entry.

Fabrizio Gollin: "It's good! Pirelli did a really good job today and they've made a lot of effort to get here. With the Pirelli tyres we now have a good balance on the car, similar to how it felt in the last few years, and this is important I know I can win on a car that feels like this. I had a fast, clean lap - not perfect, but very good. It was very important not to make a mistake as we have to start the race on these same tyres. We had one shot today and it worked."

Christophe Bouchut: "I'm not disappointed as I think we have a good chance for the race. I preferred to work for the race and we tried a harder compound tyre which was maybe a bit of a mistake.

"This Championship is very important and I will always try to win. I expect the weather to be dry tomorrow and the tyres we have on the car will be the right choice if this is the case."

Tomas Enge: "I have no excuses, we should have done better in qualifying. I am looking forward to the race tomorrow as I think our driver line up is more level than our competitors. It's going to be a tough race but if we finish we should be in a good position."
