Venice: A
unique city, full of classic culture, art, design and
architecture, the finest food and shopping, but perhaps
not the first place that springs to mind as the ideal
place to see that other epitome of Italy, Ferrari. The
roads are, after all, rather too wet for even the best
wet weather tyres, too slippery for even the most
sophisticated traction control and require more the
skills of a skipper than those of a driver. Until now.
Despite
the famous canals, a Ferrari Formula One car has just
spent a day, if not blasting, certainly cruising around
the ‘streets’ of Venice. It left the famed Tronchetto
Dock in time to make a sunset appearance in front of
Palazzo Ducale in Piazza San Marco after a journey that
took it along the Grand Canal to the Giudecca and the
Arsenale.

The F2002 Ferrari Formula One car was en route to the latest
Ferrari Shop, where it will be the centrepiece of a display
featuring every aspect of Ferrari. The Venice Ferrari
Store is the ninth official Prancing Horse outlet and the
twelfth in the world. The latest Store comes after openings
in Maranello, Rome, Milan, Las Vegas, Shanghai and Hangzhou
and the Shops at Bologna, Milano Malpensa and Roma Fiumicino
airports.
Just like the other shops, the new Ferrari Store in Venice
will be a point of reference for Ferrari fans. Inside,
apparel, leather goods, luxury accessories, scale models and
toys can be found. There will be a complete range of Ferrari
products for clients of the marque, supporters and children
– of all ages.
The F2002 car
will remain on display until it is transported to the new
Ferrari Store in via Mercerie San Marco 782. The Store will
be open to the public by the end of June, with official
inauguration to be held in the first week of September.
So, at last,
after thousands of years of history, Venice can truly be
said to contain everything that is great about Italy!
