Alfa Romeo
Automobiles is
participating as both an exhibitor and as the Official Car
in the first edition of Lux Wine, which is being held this
weekend in Monte Carlo
(April 27 to 29), hosting approximately 150 exhibitors
hand-picked by sommelier associations and a select group of
oenologists. For the duration of the event, the Espace Ravel
– the largest hall in the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco – will be
transformed into a 4000 square metre wine cellar dedicated
to an exclusive selection of winemakers.
In the exclusive setting of the Principality of Monaco,
among acclaimed winemakers from all over the world
representing their products and, more in general, the
pleasures of the good life, the Alfa Romeo brand will be
present at two stands set up in the prestigious Grimaldi
Forum. The first of the two stands will be an exclusive
showcase, where the public will be able to admire the new
Alfa Spider. This is the natural evolution of the line of
convertibles produced in the marque’s long history – cars
renowned for their boisterous passion, intense driving
pleasure and for matching breathtaking beauty with powerful,
responsive engines. Already crowned “Cabrio of the Year
2006” and “The web’s most beautiful car”, the Alfa Spider
boasts the unique, inimitable styling and technological and
engineering superiority that distinguishes the new
generation of Alfas. Testimony to this is the recent
adoption of the powerful 200 PS 2.4 JTDM unit, making Alfa
Romeo’s latest addition the world’s only convertible powered
by a multi-valve diesel engine with Multijet technology.
The second stand set up at the Grimaldi Forum was
designed in collaboration with Spirito diVino – an exclusive
publication by the Swan Group – and with Cantine Scrimaglio,
a wine producer from Nizza di Monferrato.

The theme is a
lounge where guests can leaf through the pages of a magazine
dedicated to the world of wine and the art of good living,
while tasting wines produced by Scrimaglio exclusively for
Alfa Romeo: a red and a white contained in bottles created
specially for the Italian marque by glassmaker Bormioli.
Alfa Romeo, Spirito diVino and Scrimaglio join forces at
this prestigious Monaco event as three champions of the
style and excellence of Italy.
“Alfa Romeo is very enthusiastic about taking part in the
first edition of Lux Wine”, says Antonio Baravalle, Chief
Executive Officer of the Alfa Romeo Automobiles division, “in keeping with its
traditional image of style, elegance and sportiness. These
values are built into our DNA, but are also some of life’s
greatest pleasures. We developed a range of bottles of wine
bearing the Alfa Romeo name together with the renowned wine
producer from Monferrato, Pier Giorgio Scrimaglio.
This
‘brand extension’ initiative, together with other projects
linking Alfa Romeo with the worlds of art and sailing, is an
expression of Alfa Romeo’s commitment to be associated with
premium events and activities representing the essence of
the Italian lifestyle,” adds Baravalle.
