FERRARI 60 RELAY

30.05.2007 last lap of the journey - the Ferrari 60 relay arrives in Italy this morning

This morning the baton - which has been carried around the globe by over 10,000 Ferraristi in their cars from every era - will officially arrive in Italy. By today the baton, with its 60 symbols - representing the most important events in the history of the brand - will have traversed the five continents.

Along the way from Sicily in the South to the Alps in the North and eventually arriving at the headquarters in Maranello on 23rd June, the Ferrari 60 Relay will continue collecting objects dedicated to Ferrari, representing the countries and the Italian regions, which have been passed by the Tour: such as a shirt from Brazil signed by Pelé, or a 60 cm high Russian matryoshka, containing additional 30, and a helmet made out of ceramics, signed by Michael Schumacher, which had been handed over in Berlin. The more than 50 objects will be exposed in Rome at the Farnesina, the building of the foreign ministry, on 16th June, and will be handed over to Ferrari in an official ceremony. The entire collection will then be sold at a charity auction in Maranello on 23rd June.

Ferrari 60 Relay - The Italian Stages

The first stage of the Ferrari 60 Relay on Italian soil will start on 30th May in Sicily, attended by a very special participant: the first "torchbearer" will be the former racing driver Nino Vaccarella in a 275 P2, the Ferrari, with which he won the Targa Florio in the year 1965 together with Lorenzo Bandini. The car will pass the most significant places of this legendary race, recalling unforgettable moments. The memorable year of 1965 is also represented by a symbol on the Ferrari baton. On Thursday, 31st May, after the stops in Palermo and Catania, the Tour will arrive in Ragusa, where the new Ferrari agent, Cronos, will be inaugurated.

The Ferrari 60 Relay - which has travelled through 5 continents in 4 months - first got underway in Dubai at the end of January.

As its global journey finally comes to a conclusion in Italy, last weekend the Ferrari 60 Relay visited Egypt. Photo: The Tour cars to the backdrop of the famous pyramids at Giza.

In the newly-created building the Dino 166 F2, the car, which won the edition of the Temporada Argentina in the year 1968 with Andrea De Adamich behind the wheel, will be exposed. The former driver and current executive director of the Ferrari driving courses will be present at the event. The following stages will lead to Bari, Ancona, San Marino, Perugia, Prato, Siena, Florence, Brescia, Milan, Turin, Genoa, Porto Cervo, Cagliari, Salerno and the Amalfi Coast, Capri and Anacapri, Rome, Vallelunga, Lugo di Romagna, Venice, Bolzano, Verona, Bologna and eventually Modena, on 21st June.

Ferrari 60 Relay - The Final Celebrations in Maranello

On Thursday, 21st June, the five days of the final celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Prancing Horse will start with a day, dedicated to the media and the technological innovations of Ferrari. On the race track of Fiorano a series of shows will be held with the cars from Ferrari and the clients of the brand: such as the arrival of the Relay - scheduled for 23rd June, while around 1,500 "red" cars will be displayed around the track - and the charity auction, but also the first official Ferrari Concours d'Elégance, with the participation of 80 cars from every era of the history of Ferrari, on 24th June. On 25th June the 7th edition of the Podio Ferrari, the event, with which Ferrari honours its best suppliers, takes place.
