Over the last
week the Ferrari 60 Relay has made its way through
Russia and Finland and it is now in Sweden as it begins a
long journey south towards the finishing line in Maranello
on 24th May. In Russia last week the start of the Relay was
scheduled at the Ferrari Showroom in the city centre of
Moscow, not far from the Red Square. At around 5 pm the
Russian leg of the Relay started in the presence of the
Italian ambassador Vittorio Claudio Surdo.
The first stop
was right on the world-famous Red Square in front of the St
Basil's Basilica, where the encrusted ceremonial baton was
also passed along. Later on that day the cars participating
in the Relay drove through the streets of the Russian
capital, eventually arriving at the Barvikha Luxury Village,
where, at around 7 pm, the gift to be auctioned was handed
over to the ambassador, and the baton was passed along for
the start in the direction of Finland, the following leg of
the Tour.
The next morning the cars arrived in Finland's capital city
Helsinki. On Sunday the cars gathered in front of the
Olympic Stadium and numerous owners and onlookers came to
admire the roughly 40 cars, here to celebrate the 60th
anniversary of Ferrari. At around noon the participants of
the Tour left with their cars in the direction of the old
race track, where from 1932 to 1963 the Helsinki GP was
held. When the cars arrived at the track, they had to break
their way through the numerous tifosi lining the
streets. Later on the cars of the Relay drove through the
streets of the Finnish capital, stopping on the square where
the Finish Senate can be found, where they mingled with the
crowd, just the way it also happened at their stop at
Helsinki's first Ferrari dealer.
