The Ferrari
60 Relay has made high profile visits to Sweden and
Denmark during the last week as the celebration tour makes
the long journey south through Europe. The Tour - which is
commemorating Ferrari's 60th anniversary - arrived in Sweden
from Russia and Finland, before crossing into Denmark.
The Swedish
event started at the Swedish Ferrari dealer with the
handover of the baton, while the Italian Ambassador was
presented with a gift. No less than 85 cars met up in
Stockholm by the Royal Castle and were present when the
precious baton was passed on. Vintage cars from 1958 and
onwards were present. There was a remarkable 275 GTB with
racing history, as well as models such as the FXX, Dino,
Daytona, 308, 328, 355, 360, 430 and 599 GTB Fiorano. One of
the attention-catching 599 GTB's present was owned by Per
Gessle of pop group Roxette fame. The assembly of glorious
cars was perfectly complimented by the Royal Guards who
looked immaculate dressed in blue. There was also a blue
Maserati paying a special tribute with a big number "60" on
the hood.
The car's parade
through the city started at around 11am, when the Tour left
behind the F430 with Stefan Nils Edwin Johansson, the former
driver of the Scuderia Ferrari, behind the wheel.
Once the cars had arrived at the embassy a photograph of the
great Chris Hammon at the Monaco GP of the year 1967 was
handed over to the ambassador, followed by the cars driving
through the city centre. Eventually the 80 cars arrived at
the Royal Palace and crowded the square in front of it.
Before the guests took part in the cocktail party at the
Italian ambassador's residence, they were all present at the
lunch and the following press conference. In the evening the
cocktail party was followed by a black tie gala dinner in
celebration of the anniversary of Ferrari held at the Grand
Hotel, where former 1980s Ferrari F1 star Stefan Johansson
was the guest of honour.

More than 50 cars and the respective Ferrari owners crossed
the impressive connection between Sweden and Denmark: the 5
kilometre long bridge, connecting Malmö with the Peninsula
Oresund, where the Danish capital Copenhagen is located.
The baton, made especially for the 60th anniversary of
Ferrari testimonial of every stage of this terrific Tour,
which circumnavigated the world and will soon arrive in
Maranello - was handed over in the middle of the bridge. On
one side the numerous cars of the Swedish owners, on the
other side the cars of the Danish clients, attending the
ceremony. Later on the cars left in the direction of
Copenhagen for further Relay celebrations. Eventually at the
Opera House in the Danish capital the gift was handed over
to the Italian ambassador to Denmark. After a stop at the
Jyllands-Ringen circuit the cars left in the direction of
the Netherlands under mild weather conditions. Eventually
the cars stopped in the vicinity of Hollufgaard, before they
finally left in the direction of Germany.
Following its
passage through Sweden and Denmark, the Ferrari 60 Relay
and the ceremonial 'baton' is now in Germany. It arrived in
this vitally important car market for the Maranello carmaker
on Sunday and it will leave on Thursday after a series of
events, before heading for Switzerland (12th-13th), Austria
(14th-15th), Czech Republic (16th), Hungary (17th-18th) and
Slovenia (19th-20th) and Turkey (25th). Then there will be a
brief visit to North Africa and the Lebanon before the tour
begins a final journey winding around Italy, with the whole
extravaganza set to culminate in Maranello on 25th June.
