As the worldwide
journey of the Ferrari 60 Relay enters its final week
it has just arrived in Rome where the more than 50 'gifts'
collected so far have been committed symbolically to the
Vice-Minister of the Exterior Ugo Intini by the son of the
Maranello sportscar maker's founder, Piero Ferrari. The Ferrari 60
Relay is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the legendary
Maranello sportscar maker, and in its penultimate week, where
it has been travelling round Italy before arriving in the
capital city, the ceremonial 'baton' went island 'hopping',
visiting Sardinia and Capri, brought to the former outpost aboard
the magnificent Swan 70 yacht Bugia Bianca.
Genoa, 12th
June 2007 - Having left Piedmont, the Ferrari 60 Relay
is now on its way to Liguria. The Ferrari cars and the
participating clients met at the Ferrari Showroom 'Team Forza'
in Ceriale (SV). The Tour left in the direction of Genoa's
old harbour, where the baton was passed on and then brought to
Sardinia by the Swan 70 yacht Bugia Bianca, which had
its towering sails embossed with both the 'Prancing Horse' -
and the 60th anniversary - logos for the occasion.
Cagliari,
13th June 2007 - On Wednesday, 13th June, the Ferrari
60 Relay arrived in Sardinia, after the Tour has already
passed Sicily, Apulia, Marche and a large part of Northern
Italy, including Lombardy, Piedmont and Liguria. The cars
from Ferrari and the clients met at Porto Cervo, where
they waited, together with representatives of the local
authorities, for the baton to arrive from Genoa. The Tour
then left in the direction of Oristano at around 14:30h.
From there the Relay drove to Cagliari, where the cars
stopped at the authorised dealership, GT Motors garage,
where the baton was passed on before the cars passed through
the wonderful streets of this city eventually arriving at
the harbour at Molo Sanità. In the evening the
Ferraristi participated in a soiree with music and
fireworks.
Salerno, 14th
June 2007 - Having completed the Sardinian stage, the
'Relay' arrived in Amalfi. At 14:30h the city's Doge,
in a typical costume, received the baton and passed it on to
the Ferraristi who were waiting at the harbour. After
cocktails on the Piazza del Duomo the cars left in the
direction of Salerno, driving along the marvellous Amalfi
coastline. In Salerno the cars eventually arrived at the
Cesarmeccanica dealership. At 18:00h the Ferraristi took
part in a discussion about "F1 yesterday, today and tomorrow
- the success of Ferrari", together with Cesare Fiorio
(former head of the Ferrari Motorsport division from 1989 to
1991) and Federica Balestrieri, host of RAI's program, "Pole
Position".
