From now until
the 1st July the National Museum of Cinema in Turin is
revives the legend of the Prancing Horse thanks to the
exhibition Ferrari and the cinema, hosted inside the
stunning Aula del Tempio and dedicated to actors, actresses
and films, which have contributed to the fascination of the
cars from Ferrari all over the world.
The exhibition has been curated on the occasion of the 60
years of the house from Maranello; the exhibition has been
already shown at the Galleria Ferrari and now arrives in
Turin at the National Museum of Cinema, where it adapts
itself to the extraordinary exhibition halls. A gigantic
film roll points up into the helical ramp of the Aula del
Tempio, the heart of the "Mole", the museum's building.
Instead of the frames, there are more than 40 large format
photographs from the Ferrari archives, telling about the
relationship between Ferrari and the cinema, immortalizing
actors and actresses with their cars, both in their private
lives and on the film sets. Between the photographs there
are billboards and posters, telling about the cinema and
Prancing Horse as its main protagonist in films such as Ieri,
Oggi, Domani, Tiger and the Pussycat and On the beach.
On two big screens the visitors can see images underlining
the strong relationship between Ferrari and the cinema. On
one screen a film with sequences from more than 70 different
films is shown: the legend of Ferrari has always stimulated
and inspired Cinecittą and Hollywood, while the cars with
the Prancing Horse have always been unforgettable
protagonists.

Ever since the 50s in black and white, with Ava Gardner and
Gregory Peck, in the "classics" of the 60s with Sofia Loren
and Marcello Mastroianni, but also with Alain
Delon and Walter Matthau and in the cult series of the 70s
until the mega-productions from Hollywood of our time.
On the other screen a film tells the story of the first 40
years of Ferrari and the places of its history with
extraordinary actors: the 125 S, the 250 Le Mans and the
F40.
Between the two big screens more cinema posters can be seen,
framing the nose of a flaming Ferrari 268 SP from 1962.
The Ferrari 60 Relay's testimonial will be present at the
inauguration of the exhibition. The car manufacturer with
the Prancing Horse celebrates its 60th anniversary with a
relay around the globe. The cars started on 29th January
2007 at the Italian embassy in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab
Emirates. The Relay will arrive in Turin on 10th June and
will end on 23rd June in Maranello. At the inauguration of
the exhibition in Turin all the present Ferraristi will
become symbolical torchbearers of the baton, which displays
with 60 enamelled symbols the most important events of the
history of the manufacturer from Maranello.
