As the famous song goes, if you can make it in New York, you make it
anywhere, and that is certainly Maserati’s plan as it has chosen the city
that never sleeps for the North American debut of its new coupe, the
GranTurismo.
The new Maserati’s first foray into the USA will take in Manhattan first, with the
all-new GranTurismo being unveiled on Friday (6 April 2007) at the New York
International Auto Show, providing New York with a new Empire City Express,
and ensuring that everything is, indeed, better in Manhattan.
First seen at the Geneva International Motor Show in March, the Maserati
GranTurismo will enter production later this year.
But first the Maserati GranTurismo will develop its New York State of Mind,
reduce the number of people who have to take the A Train and prove that,
like New York, the Maserati GranTurismo is so good it will have to be named
twice.
The GranTurismo
was the main star in Geneva on the occasion of its world
debut last month, the Pininfarina-designed, 4.2-litre
V8-engined 'Gran Tourer' impressing the media and public
alike. Replacing the GranSport (the last generation Coupé
version) it is a practical four-seater unlike most of its
competitors. It was elected the "Best of Show" in Geneva by
US weekly magazine Autoweek.

This year the 2007 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS)
is coming back to the city's Jacob Javits Convention Center
from April 6th - 15th, and the event, one of the three big
US motor shows (along with Detroit and Los Angeles) will
feature the largest array of cars and trucks ever seen all
together under one roof in New York. That means plenty of
previews and full debut debuts, as well as more brand new
2007 and 2008 production model versions and more concept
vehicles than ever before.
All three of the big US car manufacturing groups - Ford,
General Motors and DaimlerChrysler - will have a full
line-up of their current production range while concept cars
set to draw attention in the halls will include the
Chevrolet Camaro Convertible, Ford Airstream, Mazda Nagare
and Lexus LF-A.
