This year's
first official meeting of the Alfa Klub of Croatia
took place in Zadar last weekend. The event, which was the
first time Croatian Alfa Romeo enthusiasts' had got together
since a meeting just before Christmas, started around 10:00
when cars from all around Croatia started arriving at the
Spona shop complex's parking area in Zadar. This was to be
8th major Alfa Klub meeting and it was also a great
opportunity to celebrate the club's second birthday. So it
was Happy Birthday.
The Alfa Klub is the Croatian registered club for
Alfa Romeo fans; it was founded in Zagreb on 29th March
2005. The club's website had in fact started more informally
on 10th September 2004, and from that moment up to today we
organised eight big events in Croatia. At every meeting we
have had more than 50 Alfa Romeo cars turning out, and is
very good for a small country like Croatia. Today the club
has about 150 official members, and many more friends of
club. Members of the Club also organise unofficial meetings
every few weeks in the big town and cities around Croatia,
including Zagreb, RIjeka, Split and Velika Gorica.
Meanwhile last weekend beautiful weather attracted a lot of
Alfa Romeo fans to the meeting in Zadar, with more than
fifty of the Italian cars gathering for the Alfa Klub
get-together. It was truly a vision to remember. After the
initial gathering, convoy of Alfa Romeos went for a tour
through Zadar arriving at a parking area behind the Jazine
Sports Centre. From this scenic setting we took a short walk
to see Zadar's famous Sea Orchestra. After taking
photographs we headed back to our cars and, with an escort
provided by the local police, we went back to the restaurant
Tamaris.

After a delicious lunch in great company, the club's
leadership thanked the members who had helped to make this
meeting a great success, and also to thank all our loyal
sponsors. We also awarded some of our forum members and then
invited everyone to our next meeting on Grobnik race track."
Every year we hold one big international meeting at the main
Croatian race track of Grobnik which is located near the
town of Rijeka. This summer meeting has rapidly become a
popular high point of the Alfa Klub calendar. The
highly demanding FIA-approved Grobnik circuit was home of
the Croatian MotoGP race up to 1990, but between 1991 and
1995 the war caused the circuit to fall out of international
use. Our meeting this year will take place on 17th June and
all Alfa Romeo enthusiasts' are welcome to join us. With the
track being located just 100 km from Italy many extra
participants from the brand's home nation are expected to
attend. For more information on the Alfa Klub
