The 10th International Rally of Erechim
after 401.45 kilometers and three
days of of hard racing finished last Sunday (20/5). The rally forms part of the South
American, Brazilian and Gaúcho (South Region of Brazil) Rally Championships.
The Tedracing-run Fiat Rally Team, was in action
and looking to collect points in all the three of championships,
and it finished
the event with victory in the two categories it contested, Class A6 (from
cars with 1.6-litre engines, 4x2 traction, and free
preparation levels) and Class N2 (for cars with 1.6-litre engines, 4x2 traction,
but with very limited preparation), with
the proven Palio Abarth Rally model.
The reigning Brazilian champions in the A6 category, Luís Tedesco and Bruno Mega,
repeated the same result they achieved in 2006 racing as they raced to their
first victory in the series this year. “We faced all kinds of weather this year, rain,
wind, cold, sun, dirt and dry ground, were present during each stage of the
competition, making the rally unpredictable, but we were able to get the victory with Palio again, and improve our position in the
championship,” said Tedesco, who is now in the second place in Brazilian
Rally Championship in the Class A6.
In N2 category, the young crew of Fabio Dall’Agnol and Marcelo Damult
kept up
their invincibility in the Brazilian series with their third victory from the
three championship rounds so far this year. They now have a maximum possible
score of 30 points and a 6 point cushion over their nearest rivals. “I started the
stage in the second position on Saturday, I made the best time on Sunday and
increased my advantage over the other competitors and won, for the Brazilian
and South American championship, and for the first time in my home town Erechim,” said
a delighted Dall’ Agnol.
