Stylish and up-to-date in
its individual features, but sturdy and good-looking as a whole. These
are the features of the Fiat Stilo Multi Wagon. The front, for example,
is broad and features a wide, protective bumper able to convey a sensation
of prestige and safety. This impression is reinforced by a waist-high muscle
that ripples along the side of the car before dropping to the bumper and
ending at the number plate. This sensation of solidity does not affect
the elegance of the car that is highlighted by sophisticated horizontal
tail-lights.
The windows are tall and
generous (the rear side windows and heated rear window are different colours)
while the car's rear end visibly gains in width. And herein lies the car's
real strength. It is underscored by a rear bumper of imposing size and
appearance that increases the impression of great solidity. This perception
is borne out by the tailgate, which comes in two forms according to the
specification: one with a lower moulding that tapers down to the bumpers
and the other with an overhang instead of a moulded profile. In the latter
case, the tailgate makes the car more practical because you are able to
rest your suitcase or shopping bag on the step to open the rear window
more quickly. The other more moulded version is a pleasing, innovative
aesthetic detail. Whichever version you choose, the Fiat Stilo Multi Wagon
luggage compartment is more accessible than you would expect from a station
wagon. whether approached from the passenger compartment or from the rear,
due to the low load threshold. The boot lining is so regular that all the
space can be exploited to the full. The tailgate is opened with great ease
by a convenient central handle located beneath the number plate. The opening
rear window is also particularly convenient and innovative. All you have
to do is press a switch above the number plate lights to click open the
window and then lift it up. The fundamental features of the Fiat Stilo
Multi Wagon are complemented by two-tone luggage bars that drop from the
front and are then extrapolated to the car's waistline for immediate recognisability
and to convey a greater sense of solidity.
The Fiat Stilo Multi Wagon
also displays an attention to interior detail comparable only to that of
higher segment cars. Innovative design, material quality and a wealth of
content are all aspects that help make the interior welcoming and comfortable
while considerably improving the quality of life on board. The passenger
compartment's interior lines are harmonious and well-balanced with the
exterior shape. Together with the oceans of glass, they create a bright
environment and a perception of outstanding interior roominess. Everything
is made still more comfortable and practical by the presence of numerous
compartments distributed throughout the facia, console and door panels.
The result is a passenger
compartment of quality and substance that is well-lit with pale shades
at the top; dark and sophisticated colours at the bottom. Here and there
you can see the gleam of Titanium grey paint: the door handles, gearlever
tip, handbrake button, the surround of the rev counter and speedometer,
i.e. the two big round dials that dominate the control panel. The control
panel blends in beautifully with the facia styling and adds a touch of
modernity and high technology. These characteristics are also mirrored
by the central console that houses the radio (or CONNECT system) and climate
control system. The latter includes a central diffuser and two side outlets
designed to match the facia and allows easy air flow adjustment.
The facia is soft to the
touch at every point down to knee level. It comes in an attractive iridescent
black colour that changes between opaque and glossy. This effect is achieved
by means of a sophisticated manufacturing technology: slush moulding that
ensures a more even surface finish and a more opulent feel than a facia
produced using conventional methods. The effect is also achieved by a two-tone
trim that is embossed on the surface with a pattern that offers the same
3D, shifting-light effect as patent leather. The material changes further
down, but the feel does not change when you run your hand over the lower
part of the facia because it is painted with the same soft-touch paint
as all the buttons.
The basic premise is clear:
to ensure that everything you see and touch looks and feels good. This
approach is confirmed in every part. So the ceiling and front pillars are
covered in real cloth; the seat trims are leather. The materials come in
classic tailoring colours such as navy, grey, anthracite and beige. |
