>>> Fiat Multipla
The
model on show in Paris, a Multipla 1.9 JTD ELX, represents the model's
2002 range that was facelifted with new standard features and options in
May. The interiors have changed with a new design cloth for SX versions,
a brand new velvet-like trim for ELX versions plus the option of a PVC
facia instead of a cloth facia on both. The body colour range has been
updated to include brand new shades, Indy Green shade, Sarong Yellow, Artemis
Green, Antarctic Blue and Canary Blue. Comfort has been improved still
further with a suspension system better able to absorb road roughness and
one-touch electric windows for the front passenger window as well.
Higher specification outfits,
ELX, now come with a new lumbar adjustment control, a tailgate with electric
lock release and darkened rear windows. The model now comes as standard
with body-coloured bumpers and number plate holder.
A host of options also means
everyone can equip their Multipla to their own taste. Items include a footboard
for easier access to rear seats, a phone aerial, anti-obstruction electric
windows, original design alloy wheels and a leather gearknob and steering
wheel. The steering wheel may be fitted with electric controls for the
radio, now available also with a single CD player.
Six-seater fun stands for
versatility but also safety. All versions come with rear disc brakes. Latest-generation
sensors modulate airbag intervention according to passenger weight and
mass while optional window bags drop down over the windows to safeguard
occupants' heads in case of side impact.
The rear seats also come
with a head-restraint that allows a good rear view during parking manoeuvres.
The backrests ensure better containment. The Fiat Multipla also comes with
Isofix attachments so that child seats can be secured with ease and safety.
All in all, a wealth of creature
comforts, maximum safety and cutting-edge telematics. The new Fiat Multipla
can be fitted as an option with three levels of CONNECT, a state-of-the-art
infotelematic tool that acts as an on-board assistant and puts you in contact
with the world of services offered by Targasys.
The Fiat Multipla is available
in two specification levels, SX and ELX, and can be equipped with four
engines: two conventional, the 76 kW (103 bhp) 1.6 Torque 16v and the 85
kW, 115 bhp, 1.9 JTD that ensure low fuel consumption, outstanding performance
and a balanced, flexible and satisfying drive. Plus two low environmental
impact engines. The 'blupower', methane only, and 'bipower', with a dual
methane and petrol fuel system, that are already proving to be popular.
Lastly, another green engine will also be available from the end of April:
a petrol and LPG unit. |
