What will future Maseratis look like? A display of scale models on the Maserati stand at the Bologna Motor Show earlier this month threw up some clues.

It started back in November 2002 when Maserati set up a collaboration with the European Institute of Design in Turin and gave a group of students an interesting but demanding briefing: to offer their interpretation of Maserati models in the year 2010 presented in models in a 1:4 scale.

The Project Co-ordinator for Maserati was the Concept Design Manager, Frank Stephenson. The students were asked to imagine the new vehicles keeping in mind the history of the marque and its distinctive stylistic elements, and to bring together class, elegance and sporting spirit, characteristics that have always accompanied the Viale Ciro Menotti cars.

The best models were shown in a special area of the Maserati stand at the Bologna Exhibition Centre. This was a varied project with each model having its own unmistakeable personality: from sports models and unique city cars to exclusive, luxury saloons.

The Turin Institute students presenting models in Bologna were Roberto Pizzo, Andrea Miltello, Andreas Kurbos, Claudio Carbone, Yari Fontana, Davide Gabbi, Marco Gallo, Luca Melis, Piero Brignacca and Francesco Cundari.
