Seicento Abarth
The performance versions of the
Stilo, Punto and Seicento were unveiled at the 2001 Bologna Motor Show.
The Abarth version of the Fiat Stilo is available only with a 2.4 20v engine. The equipment list offers the following as standard: CONNECT Nav+, bi-zone climate control system, Cruise Control, an active matrix reconfigurable multipurpose display and the sophisticated ESP (Electronic Stability Program) that cuts in under extreme conditions when car stability is at risk to help the driver regain control. It goes without saying that standard equipment on the Fiat Stilo 2.4 Abarth always includes rain and parking sensors, automatic headlamps, electrically-operated rear windows, leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear lever gaiter, steering wheel controls (11 keys), burnished insets on the facia panels, body-coloured protective side panels and handles, height-adjustable front seats and 16" alloy wheels. The three-door version also comes with a sporty spoiler as standard.
The Abarth tradename also identifies the most extreme of the Punto versions. The car features exclusive design alloy wheels, sporty front and rear bumpers, sideskirts with the Abarth logo, tailgate spoilers, aluminium gearlever and handbrake, sporty pedals and customised steering wheel.
The options are just the same as those available on the Punto HGT. The same applies to the engine, i.e. a fizzing 96 kW (130 bhp) 1.8 16 valve unit that can propel the car forward at a top speed of 205 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds.
Fiat Seicento customers can add a touch of personal taste to their car by choosing from the long list of options and Accessories. These include a prestigious Abarth pack that can be seen on one of the cars on show. The sports kit, an option reserved for the Sporting version only, consists of: bumpers with the Abarth logo; tailgate spoiler; sideskirts; 14" alloy wheels with the scorpion logo; 175/50 low tyres; head-restraints with the Abarth logo; steering wheel and gear lever knob with red top stitching.
The Fiat Seicento Sporting
Abarth at the show looks and acts beefy. It is equipped with a short-ratioed
gearbox and the spirited 1.1 FIRE engine. The latter develops a power output
of 54 bhp at 5500 rpm. Maximum torque is 8.8 Nm at 3250 rpm. The result:
scintillating acceleration (from 0 to 100 km/h in 13.8 seconds) and a top
speed of 150 km/h.
