Click here for further details of the Bologna Airport shopThe latest step in Ferrari's plan to maximise the valuve of their brand took place yesterday when their first retail shop was opened at the G.Marconi Airport in Bologna, Italy.

The opening ceremony was a high profile affair, the ceremonial ribbon being cut by Ferrari's current Formula 1 drivers, recently crowned World Drivers Champion Michael Schumacher and team mate Rubens Barrichello. They were joined by the airport's managing director, Alberto Clo, and Ferrari's Director of Licencing and Merchandising, Alberto Crippa.

The Fiat Doblo Cargo and Scudo light commercial vans have undergone a facelift. Along with mild interior and exterior cosmetic upgrades and the addition of new features, they both become available with a new range of engines, including the JTD direct injection, common rail unit.

Fiat have denied newspaper reports that they are considering hiring former Ford CEO, Jac Nasser, to turnaround the loss-making car division, saying that the rumours have "no substance whatsoever". The reports state that Jac Nasser, who was pushed out at Ford late last year, had visited Fiat's Turin HQ several times during August.

Meanwhile, earlier this week in an interview, Fiat CEO Paolo Fresco admitted that if the loss making auto division was not turned around by 2004, the remaining 80% would be sold to General Motors.

Originally expected during the course of next year, factory insiders now estimate a 2004 launch date. 

This is partially due to design and engineering concentration on Lamborghini's first medium-size sportscar, codenamed L140, which is close to production, also after seeing its schedule put back, and a higher than expected order book for the Murcielargo which started to roll off the production lines earlier this year.

click here for further images and detail of the forthcoming Lamborghini L140More images and details of the forthcoming mid-size Lamborghini L140 have emerged. It is now expected that the car will be called either "Stella" of "Gallardo", both names being recently registered by Lamborghini.

The 5-litre V10 powered car shares its floorpan with the Audi RSR, and features permanent 4wd, "active" electronic suuspension, a F1-style 6-speed sequential gearbox and major use of composite materials. A debut at next years Geneva Motor Show has tentatively been scheduled by Lamborghini.

Another crushing Ferrari display gave Barrichello his second victory and Ferrari their fifth 1-2 finish of the season. The sixteen points scored by Barrichello and Schumacher has now put the contructors title beyond the reach of Ferrari's rivals, Williams-BMW next up, trailing the Ferrari team by a massive 77 points with three races remaining. Barrichello's win has elevated him up to second in the drivers championship.

These Enzo's were recently testing at Ferrari's private test track, Fiorano.

Two little known Italian Supercar manufacturers have recently raised the profile of their current models, generating public interest and sales enquiries.

Pagani's Zonda C12S is a Mercedes-Benz powered exclusive supercar built in Modena, now in its fourth year of production. The Edonis is based on the Bugatti EB 110, and built at the Bugatti factory by a team of mainly ex-Bugatti employees. A production run of twenty one cars will eventually be built.
